• The weekend was beautiful. We had fun even though it’s already winter up there and we didn’t do much outside. Next time we’ll bring board games or something, but it was still really great. I forgot to get M’s permission before we left to post about him, so I’ll do that first and then post some pictures. <3
  • Then we had to go into the city for ten seconds because the beau is an irresponsible backpack owner. It was a rough night. I pretty much wanted to chew his face off the entire time.
  • New kokorotextiles Konekos {and others too, but KONEKOS!} will stock on Wednesday! I hope there will be a good chance to snag one, I have no idea how these stockings go.
  • My mother’s Texas trip was wonderful, both she and her partner will be up here for Christmas!
  • I met someone who had FIFTEEN CHILDREN this weekend! FIFTEEN! The pride in this man’s face, his voice, I mean he stood taller and beamed when he said he had fifteen children! It was just, incredible. We only spoke for a second, but he put all of my current fears to rest. Talk about serendipity…

I bought a junky Hersheys bar at the grocery store and have had thoughts of demolishing it in seekrit when I was left alone and this is the one day in forever where not a single one of these people are vacating the premises long enough for me to do this thing, families are the worst things to create.

Don’t call it a comeback, she’s been here for years—that’s right, folks, we’re getting the band back together: Monique is ready to jump into the fray here at Growing up Last again.
Growing up Last (GuL) was Monique’s labor of love from the beginning (April 2013) and she has remained a member of the team because, quite frankly, we refused to let her leave for good. Expect to see more from her here, on the GuL Instagram account, and on our Pinterest account in the coming weeks.
Monique will also be part of the selection process for new panel members (which has been officially been closed for consideration right at this moment). And, since some good news always comes with some bad news, expect to see a little less of Marci on the blog by year’s end and into 2015 as she takes a bit of a sabbatical herself.
So, exciting changes afoot with the blog! We are incredibly happy to have so many amazing readers and we look forward to having even more interaction with you all in the coming weeks and months!

The Cacophony of Chaos

Four boys running around the house. One is eating a glitter pumpkin, graciously provided by our hostess, the others are in between two sitting rooms watching Transformers in one and Spider-Man in the other. Wishing it was warmer so they could sit in the outdoor hot tub, wishing there were more hours of daylight so we could go back to the farm and pick more pumpkins, upset that the Lego Movie wasn’t chosen from the Redbox selection.

It has been a long day. An extra long day. And no matter how stressful or difficult these moments can get, they are some of the ones I am most grateful for.

Despite its imperfections, and possibly even because of them; this life is a good one.
